Complete Turf Care have been involved with Crawley Town Football Club for the last four years. Over these years they have become a trusted confident of the Football Club, having been entrusted with both the development and subsequent maintenance of our stadium pitch. The attention to detail, knowledge and care that Ben and his team work to are crucial to us as a league Football Club and is testament to the Turf Care team and their values. CTC have been key players in the club’s agreement with Brighton and Hove Albion and our stadium share and continue go far beyond their status as ‘external contractors’. Every season, Ben is diligently able to project manage the refurbishment of our pitch working with other external contractors to see the best results for us as a league team and continues to be a trusted colleague and friend of everyone at the club, from the cleaner to the first team manager. CTC’s local knowledge has been crucial in the club’s search for a permanent training base and will continue to be involved as the search progresses. I would have no hesitation in recommending Ben and Complete Turf Care and their services to any sports club at any level, from grass roots to the Premier League.
Complete Turf Care have looked after our eleven full size croquet lawns since April 2017. Our club had invested heavily in our lawns, spending nearly £50,000 on completely renovating them in three winters from 2014 and we needed a top-quality grounds maintenance service to protect that investment and carry on improving the quality of our lawns.
Ben Harwood and his team have provided a great service from the beginning and we are very happy indeed with the lawns. We run and host major national and international croquet tournaments and in 2019 our club hosted the Golf Croquet World Championship with 80 competitors from 19 nations. The demands of the World Croquet Federation for fast flat lawns were met handsomely and the event was a great success.
In the run-up to the event a multiple world champion croquet player told me that we had the best set of lawns he had ever played on. This is the best testament to Ben and his team’s work that I can imagine.
Working with Complete Turf Care is a pleasure as communication is easy and open. I am very glad that they are looking after our croquet lawns.
East Preston and Kingston Bowls Club started using Complete Turf Care in 2018 to take over the maintenance of our green and have not looked back since. Ben Harwood and his team are very professional and knowledgeable, they have certainly done a fantastic job of getting our green into a superb condition. The Management Committee are looking forward to working with Complete Turf Care for many years to come.
Ben Harwood and his excellent team took over the groundcare responsibilities at Horsham Sports Club in 2019. The Club runs two full cricket grounds with large squares accommodating over 150 matches in a regular-season hosting Sussex Premiership teams, County 2nds and until recently the full county festival. We also have a thriving tennis section with 5 hard courts and 4 grass courts. In the winter we provide junior and senior football pitches. Ben has bought his extensive knowledge, qualifications and experience to bear on all our surfaces and maintains them all to a very high standard. Ben’s service has also provided us with a medium term development plan that will lead to a more efficient and productive use of all areas of the ground and increased income.
Ben leads a great team, is direct and straightforward to deal with, has good communication skills and has brought his very high standards to HSC. We hope, expect and look forward to retaining his services for many years to come.
The bowls green at Marine Gardens had been maintained by the council and its appointed contractors since 1930. While the council staff were conscientious, they simply did not have sufficient time allocated to really improve the playing surface. So, when the club assumed responsibility for the green maintenance in early 2020, the choice of a private contractor was critical.
Thankfully, we landed on our feet via a fruitful partnership with Complete Turf Care. Managing Director Ben Harwood set out a coherent plan for curating the green; every step was clearly explained and fairly costed. As a result, we know what to expect across all 52 weeks of the year.
Ben and his team are knowledgeable and specialists in the maintenance and renovation of sports surfaces, but also friendly and always willing to explain why particular work is needed. Advice has been given to members about watering and other simple actions which the club can undertake to help nurture the green.
It will take time to develop a high-quality playing surface, but even after a few months’ members have noticed a real difference with both the appearance and consistency of the playing surface. The hard work, professionalism and friendly, engaging approach of CTC has been excellent. We look forward to working with them for many years to come.
Ben and the Complete Turf Care team were a joy to work with. Ben took the time to really understand the longer term, bigger picture for our Club and put together a plan that helped us start a journey that we hope, as a volunteer-led kids football club, will end up in some serious investment in improving the playing surfaces we use. Ben personally took the time to understand what we needed to achieve in the short-term and offered really helpful advice and insight on how we might get the best value for the money we were hoping to invest. The understanding that Ben had meant that he was able to make really helpful recommendations and even reduce the cost of the project, knowing that every pound we invested was hard-earned.
The communication before, during and after the work showed a real passion for the final result. A genuine desire to make meaningful improvements and recommendations for next steps. It felt like it mattered. It felt like a partnership approach, built on trust. We would have no hesitation in recommending them to others and hope we can engage them again on our on-going journey.
Just a note, on behalf of Storrington Bowls Club, to thank you for the expertise, hard work and ongoing commitment to the club. Your efforts enabled us to resume play this year by turning what was a brown quagmire of a bowls green at the start of the year into an excellent playing surface. Many members have commented on the quality of the green is testimony to you and your teams work.
